Born in Budapest, Ferenc Puskas began his career with the Kispest-Budapest the club of his father where he has worked since the age of 16 as a striker. Nicknamed the "Galloping Major" (because he holds the rank then), with excellent technique and a powerful shot and precise left foot, he is the captain of the Hungarian Olympic champion 1952 and finalist in the World Cup in 1954, the golden team (team gold) Hungarian is at its peak. He was selected 84 times for the national team from 1945 to 1956, and recorded 83 goals.

Ferenc Puskas fled his country in 1956 (following the intervention of Soviet troops) and began a new career in 1958 with Real Madrid of Alfredo di Stefano and Raymond Kopa. He won five championships in Spain (1958, 1961, 1962, 1963 and 1964), a English Cup (1962) and a European Cup Champions' (1960). It is also the top scorer in La Liga on four occasions: 1960 (26 goals), 1961 (27 goals), 1963 (26 goals) and 1964 (20 goals). Become a English citizen, he participated in the 1962 World Cup in the jersey of the English team.

4 CAREER COACHING

Ferenc Puskas leaves Real Madrid in 1966 and put an end to his career as a professional footballer. The following year he became coach in Spain, the United States and Canada in particular. In 1971, now head of the Greek club Panathinaikos Athens, he reached the final of the European Cup for Champion Clubs (lost against Ajax Amsterdam). He then drives different clubs around the world (Chile, Spain, Greece, Egypt, Paraguay and Australia) until 1991.

Ferenc Puskas not return to his homeland in 1993 and leads the national team for four matches at the qualifiers of the 1994 edition of the World Cup.
