Seeler, Uwe (1936 -), German football player, team captain Cup finalists the world in 1966.
Uwe Seeler was born in Hamburg. The center forward spent his entire career in the club Hamburg, where he scored 137 goals in 239 first division matches. He won the German championship in 1968, was the top scorer of the championship in 1964 (30 goals) and won three titles of best German player (1960, 1964 and 1970). He was selected for the national team 72 times, including 40 as captain, and scored 43 goals since his international debut in 1954. He competed in four World Cups: 1958 (semifinalist), 1962, 1966 (he was, despite the presence alongside him of Franz Beckenbauer, who was beaten in the final by the British team of Bobby Moore and Bobby Charlton) and 1970 (third, he was defeated in a semifinal exceptional team of Italy Sandro Mazzola, Gianni Rivera and Luigi Riva).
