Vignal, Rene
Vignal, Rene (1926 -), French footballer, goalkeeper of the France team early 1950. René Vignal began his career in Béziers, his hometown, and played successively for Toulouse and RC Paris. With this last club he won the Coupe de France in 1949 and was a finalist in 1950. He who was dubbed by the British "the French flying" for its flexibility and its legendary dives was selected 17 times for France between 1949 and 1954, but was forced to interrupt his career in 1958 due to numerous injuries his rashness. He was sentenced in 1971 to several years in prison for taking part in armed attacks, then freed in 1978.
