Tigana, Jean (1955 -), French footballer, midfielder of the France team in the 1980s then coached several French teams.
Jean Tigana was born in Bamako. Begun in Toulon and Lyon continued, his career flourished in Bordeaux where he was three times champion of France (1984, 1985 and 1987) and France won two Cups (1986 and 1987). Party in Marseille in 1989, he was still twice champion of France (1990 and 1991). He played 411 games in France Championship and was voted Player of the Year in 1984. He trained alongside Michel Platini and Alain Giresse, an outstanding midfielder who allowed the France team, which also included Manuel Amoros and Marius Tresor, playing a semifinal World Cup in 1982 (eliminated on penalties by the Federal Republic of Germany), won the European Nations Championship in 1984 and being re- semi-finalist in the 1986 World Cup, beaten by the same Federal Republic of Germany, which played Lothar Matthaus. He was later coach of Lyon from 1993 to 1995, then coach of Monaco, who was champion of France in 1997.
